Fell in love with this app again
This app is great for finding quirky, different, fun and one-of-a-kind things to do in NYC that youd have a hard time find on apps like Yelp or TripAdvisor.
I used to use this app when it first came out - I think for iPhone 1 back in 08? - and never deleted it from my on my iphone apps but after moving away from NYC it kind of fell into disuse.
I was recently back in NYC on a work trip and had a few spare hours to kill. I whipped out the latest and greatest user-curated "things to do" app that I had recently downloaded. Beautiful UI but the suggestions were painfully obvious tourist things like "visit the Top of the Rock" "see the New York Public LIbrary." I ended up wandering aimlessly around the Village and SoHo like I usually do having already seen/done most of the familiar.
It wasnt until I traveled back home later that evening, looking back with amazement that I had difficulty finding something interesting to do spur of the moment in the most interesting city in the world, that I thought to pull out NYT The Scoop. And the recommendations they gave were things that would have never even occurred to me without the help of the NYT staff: "Get lost among the stacks at the strand" "Get steamed at Russian and Turkish baths" etc.
Cant wait for my next trip to put this app back to use!
