Too much advertising

That CitiMobile ad has killed this app for me. I used to look herefor suggestions on bars and restaurants, and now its so annoying that I am taking it off my phone. Bye-bye! Useless.

I once loved this app but being forced to skip Citibanks ad at every transition infuriates me. I expect more from the NYTs.

With every touch an add pops up. Its impossible to use now. Use the web version instead.

Used to be great, but as others note, now theres the same Citi ad at every screen swipe. Really annoying. Ruins the experience.

I used to like this app - great recommendations of good NYC spots I might not have otherwise founds. I had one complaint - not enough stuff above 96th St. There are good restaurants and spots up here - and people - but NYT sometimes acts like we dont exist. But now theres a huge Citibank ad that pops up every time you click something and wont go away, rendering the app unusable.

Ive used this app for a couple of years and gotten some very good tips. Now I cant even get it to open.

Im a heavy user and early adopter of apps seeking out cool stuff to do on frequent trips to nyc and The Scoop is my hands-down favorite. In the age of info-overload the excellent curation here had allowed us to discover so many cool things in the city. My favorite section is Only In NYC- if you could rotate in a few more picks there it would be much appreciated since that is a phenomenal list!

Crashes every time I try to open it.

Used to love The Scoop, but it crashes now. Unusable.

I emailed the scoop to let them know about this 2 weeks ago and they responded to say it should work. Welp- it still doesnt. Please fix.

I keep downloading the app cause I appreciate the content and have never been disappointed in the recommendations, but it crashes constantly. Wish they would fix it.

I really love the app. The reviews and suggests are great and varied. BUT I want a section to bookmark places I want to go/things I want to do that I can easily reference back to later.

App crashes upon opening. Cant use it at all. I have an IPhone 5S and am using the IOS 8.

No problems with crashing, but I would love a way to save a list of things to do for later, kind of like how you can create lists / bookmarks on Yelp and Foursquare. Good content. Update Sept 2014: the content needs to be verified and updated. Two things classified as "newly listed" - 5 Pointz and the Rose reading room at NYPL - are closed and have been for some time.

New York Times takes months to update a simple app. No longer works. Booooooo. Shame!

I adore this app: The arts listings are concise and up-to-the-minute, and it geolocates its excellent recommendations. I suggest "The Scoop" to all newcomers to New York, and tourists, especially museum and gallery goers, and families with kids. Unfortunately, its perpetually buggy and crashes often on launch. Deleting the app and reinstalling it fixed this for a period of time, but Ive deleted and reinstalled it about 5 times now. Hope the NYT will debug it soon.

Just gives a list of places around NYC. No way to know whats good. Hard to find whats nearby. Removed
